New: Admin Safeguard for Critical MDM Actions

Hi everyone,

We’ve added a new protection layer in Swif to make critical device management actions safer.

Introducing Admin Safeguard: two-factor verification for destructive admin actions.

When enabled, Swif requires an admin to verify their identity with a one-time email code before executing high-impact actions like:

Device wipe
Soft wipe
User removal

This helps ensure these actions are not triggered accidentally or by an unauthorized admin session. Admin Safeguard is available under Settings → Security and is enabled by default for all organizations.

Why This Matters

Device wipe, soft wipe, and user removal are powerful actions.

They are necessary for IT and security teams, but they should always be protected with extra care.

Admin Safeguard adds a simple but important checkpoint: before a destructive action is executed, Swif sends a one-time verification code to the admin’s registered email address. The action only proceeds after the code is successfully confirmed.

This gives teams more confidence when managing devices at scale.

It helps reduce risk from:

• Accidental clicks
• Unauthorized sessions
• Compromised admin access
• High-impact mistakes during device operations

Built for Safety and Control

The verification flow is designed to be clear and safe.

When Admin Safeguard is turned on, destructive action buttons such as Wipe Data or Delete are replaced with Continue. Admins are then prompted to enter a one-time email code before the action can run.

Swif also handles edge cases carefully:

• Invalid or expired codes show clear errors
• Too many failed attempts trigger rate limiting
• Closing the verification window cancels the action
• A fresh code is required if the action is started again

Most importantly: the destructive action never executes without a valid verification code.

Default-On Protection

Admin Safeguard is enabled by default for all organizations.

That means teams get this additional protection automatically, without needing to configure anything first.

Organizations that prefer the previous confirmation-only flow can still disable Admin Safeguard under Settings → Security, but we recommend keeping it on for stronger protection around critical MDM actions.

A Small Step That Reduces Big Risk

Security is often about adding the right checkpoint at the right moment.

Admin Safeguard does exactly that.

It gives IT teams the speed and control they need, while adding extra assurance before irreversible actions are carried out.

Closing

We’ll continue strengthening Swif with safeguards that help IT and security teams move quickly without giving up control.

Thanks for building with us.
